Oxyllow System
What is it? How does it work? Who can use it?
Many people struggle with sleeping while wearing a nasal cannula. There are about 1.5 million people that have to sleep with one nightly in the United States alone. Slightly less than half of these people dont recieve their therapy becuase of discomfort and incompadability with sleeping with a cannula. The cannula can dry out the nose and cuase chronic nose bleeds, irritate the skin on the face and behid the ears, dry out the airways and get tangled around the body. If you have one of these issues the Oxyllow System can solve your problems.
What is the Oxyllow System? The Oxyllow system is a pillow attachment. This attachment or pillow case allows oxygen users to take a break form their canula and be free from being tied to a machine while they sleep. This system consists of a pillow case, 2 blocks, 2 diffuser heads, 3 tubes and a y-connector. This system works to gether so that people on oxygen can get the therapy they need without having to deal with a cannula.
How does it work? The Oxyllow system works by creating oxygen rich pocets right infront of the user. These pockets are not very big. It is recomended that the user keeps their face within 3 inches of the block. It connects to most oxygen sources.
Who can use it? The Oxyllow system is design to acomodate stomach and side sleepers. This posistion is more ergonomic for breathing as your lungs do not have to fight gravity as much as you sleep. It also has some restrictions on how many leiters it can provide to a patient. The optimal range for the Oxyllow System is from 1-4 leiters. Users are encouraged to use their perscribed rate while using the Oxyllow System.
How we got to where we are.
We realized there was a problem to be solved when we met one of our neighbor boys. He had downesyndrome and hypoxia so he needed oxygen while he was a sleep, but he would fight it. There are not very many nassal cannula alternatives out there. We felt for this boy and family and designed the very first Oxyllow for him and it changed both his and his parents lives.
How we changed from a pillow to a pillow attachment.
The Oxyllow system has been tested over and over again in different shapes and forms to make sure that it provides the needed oxygen to the user. Throughout this testing we identified that everyone has their favorite pillow that is just right for them. Not wanting to take that perfect pillow away, the Oxyllow system can slide onto any standard pillow size.
Meet the founders In this video meet the creators and inventors of the Oxyllow System. Anthony and Aaron Esplin. Anthony is a engineer at heart and loves to create. He is a husband and father of two beautiful children and stays busy with his family. Aaron is his younger brother and spends his time volunteering with a highschool wrestling program working with highschoolers to develop characteristics like hardwork, integrity and perserverance. Both are excited about the Oxyllow System and the many people that it can help.
